Marie Bontemps is an environmental activist and musician from Belgium who also lives in Brazil. It is here in Bahia that she founded her environmental project ’Apaoka’, in which Brazilian farmers are to be introduced to sustainable cultivation and production methods. Meanwhile, the project is also active in the field of art and culture, thus contributing to the preservation of Brazil’s cultural heritage. Marie is a friend of Seraina Gratwohl and Veronica Silva Machado. She plays flute and percussion and sings during the recordings of ‘Maracatuanda’.
